The weaver

There’s something about the process of taking all these threads
It’s laborious; you’re sitting for hours
Pulling through hundreds and hundreds of threads

You tie them all on
And they’re secure
And you can weave

You can make something happen
And affect the patterns

I was interested in how I could disturb or disrupt
Traditional patterns
And how I could create hybrid patterns

Something that I find very reassuring about weaving
Is that it cannot just fall off the loom
Once those threads are all on there
I have total control over them

The threads stay where they are
As long as I don’t cut them off
It would take a drastic move or act like that
For them to be loose

Weaving, I think, is something symbolically
Or metaphorically
Which connects and brings strength
