Unless I value evaluation as part of the experimental process I cannot measure the unseen stuff that is going on when something is happening Whatever I organize Why don't I do this so often? I cannot do it because I am usually in precarious conditions And also, because evaluation is not always seen as important It always feels like there are not enough resources. This means that I am not able to invest resources in documenting and evaluating. I am working in survival mode. I don't have the time to look back and say: what happened? Because once I'm done with one project I'm already working on another project I am running all the time. And when I'm running, I can't breathe. I breathe, but the way I breathe is to continue running. Evaluation happens in my mind and body And not in the papers I don't know how to get them The things that researchers have been asking me to document I don't know how to report those I want to develop ways of engaging. One of the issues with creative practices engaging Is that the authorship of the creatives can sometimes prevent the scaling of the practice The most significant works are very tied to the greatness of the artist And the more it's bound together, the harder it becomes to scale But the more it should be scaled because it's such a fantastic method Researchers can translate practice into a method. And that method would be the basis for other practices But in artistic practice Tying it back into research, making it a method and sharing it It is not always done The research project is excellent as a setup because it brings people together. We're paid to relate to each other. And to take the time to figure out how things go together At the same time, it comes with its baggage That makes some of the work that I want to do completely impossible. I'm thinking about how the creative practitioners whose practice is studied can be credited. Creatives are being observed, but because they're sharing their thoughts In a way, creatives and researchers are extracting knowledge together Should they co-write their papers? I think there's some ambiguity there. Quite often, what happens with the hierarchy, Is that the researcher is writing a paper about the practice But the practitioners are being written about, And they are not the co-author of the paper Whereas, when practitioners and researchers are in a research project together, It should move in both directions.
